Serving others in the name of Christ - Trinity UMC

Reaching out to others in our community and around the world is extremely important to Trinity UMC.  We are so pleased to be able to open our doors to a variety of community groups and organizations from Wartburg College to Scouts to the W-SR schools.  Trinity has space for meetings, ample parking, is handicapped accessible and is always seeking ways to be in partnership with others in our region.  It's one of the benefits of being a church on 'main street'!
Trinity UMC members are active in the community, using their gifts to serve others in a wide array of community organizations.  We know that God calls us to live out our faith in the marketplace as well as in our times of play, so we encourage our members to be active in the community, the schools and in our neighborhoods.
Each month we have a number of ways for people to participate in specific mission projects such as the Christmas giving tree, coat and clothes drive for our school children, the backpack program, community meal, the food pantry, Thanksgiving Ingathering and Habitat for Humanity.
We also are a generous congregation - as of October, 2011 we have given nearly $30,000 to a variety of organizations and missions groups across town and around the world!  We are on our way to becoming a Rainbow covenant church too.

November projects:

Brown Bag Sunday:  Early each November we collect food to fill over 100 bags of groceries for area families in need.  These are delivered to homes the week before Thanksgiving.  Bring your donations of non-perishable food items to Wesley Foyer any time before November 7th.  We are also collecting donations for 3 lb canned hams at $7.00 each.  Thank you for your generous support of this missions project!

Heifer Project:  The Sunday school children have chosen Heifer project as their designated Sunday morning offering this fall.  Ask them for more information about their project...rumor has it that if they raise enough $ Pastor Deborah will even kiss a pig some Sunday!

November is pillow month!  Trinity is collecting pillows for Cedar Valley Friends of the Family.  Bring your new pillows to the church office any time throughout the month.

Community Meals:  Trinity UMC, along with St. Andrew's and Heritage churches serve a meal the second Monday of every month at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.  If you would like to help with this project, please contact the church office.
